“Angsty, cliché-free brilliance!” NME
“Raw, full of anger, exciting…this is a band that puts your faith back in to guitar music” CLASH
“Unrelenting, angry, poetic and loud. An ode to the underdog: when the underdog is a pitbull biting back.” ARTROCKER
The Chapman Family are a band who are no strangers to adversity. Line-up changes, false starts and a fractured music industry might have signalled the death knell for many bands before them but this has only served to galvanise the North East 5 piece who return this February with a full UK tour.
A family joined not with blood but passion, they have their sights on the same targets they always did, but with a new found focus and maturity are proving to be a more daunting and magnificent prospect than ever. Never resting on their laurels, fearless in the direction their music takes and endlessly defying the constraints of genre, they are armed with a self belief which never waivers for reasons that are instantly apparent upon witnessing them.
Ominous basslines, soaring guitars, primal drums and brooding vocals are all that you can be sure of. Ambitious slow burners, hook drenched guitar pop and 3 minute post-punk assaults make up part of their arsenal and signal a band who refuse to stagnate or lose sight of their own conviction.
Back with a dogged determination to cut through the filler, the spin and the dead eyed hype, The Chapman Family could not have made a more timely return to kick start a sluggish guitar scene. Their stage shows are legendary, the band a formidable live presence with a surging, brutal energy unmatched by peers. Years of honed live talent fuses with intense unbridled force, backed not by tired posturing or half cut sentiment, but real guts and steely resolve.
No matter what’s around the corner in 2013, you can bet The Chapman Family are ready for it. Adversity? They thrive on it. The tour will be accompanied by ‘Adult’ their free download. The first single from their new album is scheduled for May with the album to follow in the Autumn.
