The LaFontaines: Light Up The Background 25th June 2012

Hailing from Motherwell, the old industrial heartland of Central Scotland, The LaFontaines have already forged a dedicated following after taking their energetic live set on the road as tour support to the likes of Twin Atlantic, The Ting Tings, Pendulum, Example, Flobots and Beardyman. As they prepare to release Light Up The Background they also embark on their own headline tour starting 24th May.

Combining portions of Hip-Hop, Rock and Pop into one melodic element of noise, their unique genre mash-up has gained critical acclaim from press and radio throughout the UK, continuing to spiral as the band strive to conquer new ground. This has lead to ongoing features and a video series for Rocksound, big hitting reviews in Kerrang! and recently winning of “Best Live Act” at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMA’s).

Fronted by rapper/mc Kerr Okan, the band express their views on everything from partying too hard to the monotony of 9 to 5 life whilst maintaining a socially conscious lyrical flow that keeps these tracks just as relevant as they are rousing.

And the name? Inspired by no other than the late great Don LaFontaine. The band were huge fans of the voice-over legend and were thrilled when the man himself wanted to work with the guys on some voice-over material for their live shows and CD’s.

With a full studio album now complete, the Agency Group looking after their bookings, a fast expanding fanbase both live and online and a great looking set of videos for all three tracks on the release, including a brooding parkour based cut for lead track Light Up The Background, the band are displaying a solid plot and a bright future for their hard hitting sounds.
